Join Kanami and guest teachers at the Buena Vida Yoga Shala in the idyllic beach town of Puerto Escondido in Southern Mexico for a 23 Day journey into the Art of Teaching Yoga. Enjoy the freedom of having one day off a week to have time to digest your yoga studies and enjoy the abundance of activities to do in the Puerto area.
Explore breathtaking beaches, release baby turtles, go horseback riding, join a sunrise dolphin watching tour, check out bustling weekend markets, or try out the world-class surf breaks of Zicatela and La Punta….if you dare! Puerto Escondido is known as a surfing Mecca due to its infamous and absolutely giant wave on Zicatela beach.
Regardless if you are looking to become a yoga teacher, or are just simply interested in learning more to strengthen your personal practice, this transformational journey is a must for the adventuring yogi! your home for 23 days
casa de los sueños
Once upon a time Kanami and (her now husband) Andrew had a dream: to build a house somewhere warm where they could slowly build a life together. After a six week visit to Puerto Escondido they knew that was going to be the place.
Fast forward five years: they now live in this house, located in La Punta, Puerto Escondido, just up the hill from Zicatela Beach. Knowing how important yoga is to her, Andrew built an upstairs yoga space for Kanami underneath a cool palapa roof. Included in this dream was to one day run teacher trainings from her beautiful home space: La Buena Vida Yoga Shala
Join Kanami’s next 200hour YTT and become part of La Buena Vida family! Feel completely at ease during your Level 1 course in this house built with love, and filled with love by Domino, Piña, and Charlie (Kanami’s three dogs). Expect lots of 1-on-1 attention during your YTT since this will be a small group training of maximum five students. The small number will ensure each student will get the support they need to thrive through the detailed curriculum. This will be a more advanced Level 1, so please be prepared to focus and study hard.
Casa de los Sueños is close to the best surf spots, restaurants, cafes, and shops, but far enough away to feel quiet, spacious, and peaceful. Get ready to live the good life in Puerto Escondido: once you’re here you’ll never want to leave!

You will also learn the energetic effects of yoga on the body, and will study PRANA in detail. Discuss the ethics of yoga, code of conduct, and important qualities of a successful teacher. Learn about the business of yoga, defining your mission, marketing yourself, and setting your goals and dreams.
PRACTICE TEACHING
The fastest way to becoming a great yoga teacher is practice, practice, and more practice. Students will be given plenty of classroom time to plan many styles of classes: from a challenging, fast-paced Power practice, to a super mellow, relaxing yin stretch-out, and everything in between. Emphasis will be made to try different classes out on each as often as possible during and after the course. This is a great opportunity to receive feedback, get creative, and learn from one another.
